Practice in a custom lobby. Use -allvision to inspect terrain and possible ward positions, then switch back with -normalvision to see what the ward actually reveals under normal fog.

You can use -killwards to clear the map and repeat the same smoke or ward scenario. This is a repeatable way to compare sight lines without waiting for normal match timing.
